MEET THE TEAM

TONY BIGGAR
Solicitor
“I will be celebrating 40 years as a Solicitor in 2024.
In 1986 I arrived in Monto as a 27 year old and purchased the practice of the late Harry Bandidt and carried on practice as Bandidt and Biggar servicing the North Burnett until the sale of the practice in 1998.
During my time in Monto I took on everything that came through the door including crime, family law, litigation, property transfers (rural, residential, commercial and industrial), local government matters, wills and estates and commercial law. I have many fond memories of my time in Monto including the staff that worked for me. On one of my recent visits, it was a privilege to catch up with my original bookkeeper who was affectionately known as TR who is now 99 years old and living in Ridgehaven Retirement Village.
Upon my return to Brisbane I purchased a small practice in Petrie with two longstanding staff Kathy and Yolande. Yolande had been with the firm since 1975 (and is still with Big Law Pty Ltd) and Kathy since 1985 (Kathy retired in 2014). In 2001 I was joined by Stephen Maguire and we carried on practice as BM Law I limited my areas of work to property transfers, wills and estates and commercial law. The practice moved to Strathpine and from 2014 I carried on practice as Big Law Pty Ltd which I sold in 2019.
In 2021 I commenced my own practice again as Tony Biggar Solicitor in Brisbane but in a much smaller way. I was lucky enough that Kim Mundt who was one of my staff at Bandidt and Biggar was available to work for me again on a part time basis and Clare joined us last year also on a part time basis. I also coaxed Kathy out of retirement to work part time and assist me with wills and estates matters.
Technology has allowed me to continue to service my North Burnett clients from Brisbane and it has been a pleasure to do work for clients from the North Burnett and new clients in Brisbane.
In May 2023 Brianna Hockey Solicitor joined us working from Monto. Brianna shares many of the values that I do and I had been impressed with her skills, knowledge and manner when dealing with her on the other side.
We now have an office in the old NAB premises in Monto. I look forward to assisting old and new clients with their property matters, wills and estates and commercial law needs.”
